Compellent engaged Matter in September 2007, just two months prior to the company’s IPO and only a few months before the launch of the next version of its flagship product, Compellent Storage Center 4.0, a storage attached network (SAN) for the mid-sized enterprise. Compellent was also scheduled to exhibit at a major tradeshow (Storage Networks World, or SNW) in October, where it would be issuing multiple announcements.
To manage the news during this crowded time, Matter quickly integrated into Compellent’s marketing and public relations team by participating in a four day boot camp at the client’s office that included interviewing executives, customers and partners. Within weeks of beginning work, Matter secured twelve briefings with media and industry analysts at SNW. To support the IPO, Matter arranged six in-person business press briefings to coincide with the senior executive team ringing the bell on the NYSE. Immediately following, Matter secured 10 media and analyst briefings at Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco.
In February 2008, Matter managed the launch of Compellent Storage Center 4.0 and secured product reviews in all relevant publications, and in-depth news coverage in 12 media outlets.
Matter has also helped Compellent launch of the company’s CTO blog, focused on the “greening” of the data center.
