What Communications + Marketing Professionals Need to Know in 2024 It’s no secret the game changed significantly for how consumers view all aspects of health and wellness over the past five years – living through a global pandemic will do that! But beyond changing attitudes about hygiene and disease prevention, the growing spotlight on mental health and self-care, and the explosion in telehealth have had lasting… Read more »

honoring DE+I Beyond Black History Month

As February comes to a close, so too does Black History Month – an important and annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. For the past four weeks, we’ve seen organizations of all shapes and sizes recognize this observance with social media content, company-wide activities and other commitments. Our approach at Matter has always been… Read more »

Black History – and Black Culture – Matters All Year Long, Not Just in February

Yesterday marked the first day of Black History Month – an annual celebration of achievements by Black individuals and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. As my colleague Marissa Lindstrom stated in her email to our agency announcing the ways we are marking the occasion this year, it’s an opportunity to celebrate and learn about the contributions of African Americans — because… Read more »

Why I’m Proud that Matter Celebrates Pride

Next week marks 12 years at Matter for me, and I’m sure to many that seems like a long time for someone to spend at any agency in the world of public relations, social media, digital marketing and creative. Yet it doesn’t feel odd to me, because we put a lot of emphasis on culture and employee retention here – and there are a lot of… Read more »

How to Craft a Fresh PR Program

The first quarter of each year is often filled with new launches, new goals, and even new faces. In my experience, there’s a healthy balance between looking back at what was accomplished the year prior and planning for what’s coming down the pike. Working with stellar brands, and alongside smart, creative and passionate colleagues, makes the planning process quite simple: let’s do more of what we’ve… Read more »

In launch of #OneGoodReason, CVS demonstrates ‘3 Good Reasons’ we can all learn from them

As you may have caught on the news on your drive in yesterday morning or throughout the day on Wednesday, it’s a big week for drugstore chain (and Matter client) CVS. Earlier this year CVS Caremark made a commitment to stop selling cigarettes and other tobacco products at all CVS/pharmacy stores by October 1, 2014 – becoming the first national pharmacy to do so. Yesterday morning CVS officially… Read more »
