We’re hiring – in all of our offices – and I thought to contribute to the recruiting effort by sharing some perspective as to why working at PR agency Matter is a great way to go. I’m a touch biased, yes, but here are five honest reasons why joining Matter is good for your career and your life:
First, we prioritize the professional path of our people. In addition to having a comprehensive training program that supports the growth of all of our professionals, our agency is comprised of senior team members who joined Matter when they were early in the careers. We’ve been equally committed to one another and as those professional have grown, our agency has grown. (The number of PR pros who have been on our team for more than several years – and have taken big life steps during the process – is a huge source of pride.)
Second, we are at the epicenter of PR, social media and creative services impact. We’re a leader in combining communication disciplines to make the programs we execute on behalf of some of the most exciting consumer and technology brands in the world even better. Thirteen years into the gig we’re just as entrepreneurial as we’ve ever been, and our future is extraordinarily bright.
Third, we’ve never scaled back. Every new hire is a long-term commitment on our side and despite challenging business times – see 2008, for example – we always take the steps necessary to keep all of our valued people on board. Our trajectory is consistent despite the rising and falling tides. If this is something you know nothing about, ask a friend at another communications agency if they have the same track record.
Fourth, we do a lot of good. Beyond contributing to a seemingly countless number of key causes – the effort to eliminate domestic violence, improved local education, local arts & culture, for example – we roll up our sleeves and volunteer time to feed the hungry and to participate in walks and runs that raise awareness for important topics in need of attention. I’m proud of how we give back, and I know all of our employees are, too.
And, finally, we’re active and have a hell of a lot of fun. We’re a social gang but have expanded our behavior to include so much more than getting together in a pub – which we still enjoy! Together we play basketball and golf, and clubs here at Matter exist for twice-weekly running and yoga. And, this is beyond monthly celebrations, Summer Fridays and one of the most generous holiday schedules I’ve ever known. The vibe is positive, supportive – and fun.
